slide dip switches and rocker dip switches are composed of multiple single pole, single throw, SPST
switches, each of which can be independently switched on or off. A single dip switch can be used to
represent a single bit of binary. Multiple dip switches can also be used to express a larger value. Seven
dip switches can be used to express 128 combinations, so standard ASCII codes can be set. Eight DIP
switches can express 256 combinations, equivalent to one byte.
